Courageous Deficit Fighters!   You’d think from all the noise Congress made over deficit reduction that blood was flowing in the streets of Washington.  According to the Congressional Budget Office, the deficit reduction bill signed this week by President Obama will reduce actual federal spending this year by $352 million dollars (cue Dr. Evil, please).  That is .0016 (that is, one-fifth of 1 %) of the $220 billion deficit the federal government ran in FEBRUARY, one month, of 2011.  The $39 billion allegedly saved by the measure, to quote the NY Times, counted “money that was not likely to be spent in any case”.  http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703730104576261990510050126.html?mod=googlenews_wsj
